The other 3 bedrooms in the main lodge share a bathroom – there are 2 twin bed rooms and one 4-bed room. All rooms have mosquito nets. There is also a large lounge and dining room area with a spacious khonde. For guests staying in the lodge, our friendly staff are at your disposal and will serve you set meals as planned for the day. There is also internet available with our TNM wireless hotspot. The campsite is set amongst our spacious grounds and guests are welcome to also enjoy hot meals from the lodge kitchen and use of the lodge bathroom facilities.

Hiking

Mount Mulanje is the highest mountain in Malawi, spanning a massive 345 sq miles with the highest peak, Sapitwa, at 3002m above sea level. Nestled at the foot of the mountain, Likhubula Forest Lodge gives a panoramic view of the mountain and surrounding area.

Guests may choose to enjoy shorter walks through the forest along trails around the lodge and surrounding areas – some special highlights include rock pools, fed by the Likhubula River. Two of the most spectacular pools, Dziwe La Nkhlamba and Likhubula are close to the lodge. For those looking for a more challenging hiking experience, we can assist in arranging local guides and porters for longer day/ overnight hikes up the mountain to the numerous peaks.

Other Activities

Also close to Likhubula Forest Lodge are a number of tea & coffee estates which provide a beautiful foreground to the mountain. It is possible to take short drives and walks along the road to enjoy the picturesque scenery. A short 20 minute drive away is the town of Mulanje where guests can visit the local market and businesses.

Conservation

The preservation of Mulanje Mountain and its forest reserves are of utmost importance to us at Likhubula Forest Lodge, and we are committed to the continued conservation efforts in this area in order for future generations of Malawians and international visitors to enjoy this beautiful natural haven.
